I’ve inked with all media including digital, but still I personally fine the most satisfying to be the traditional tools. Yes I’m old school; I’ve worked in the industry for over thirty years and have used Quill, Brush and markers. But I find that for the most satisfying results markers best serves my needs. First the new markers are light-years ahead of the types used in the 90’s. They don’t fade or “turn” and they allow for a continued work flow from start to finish without the need of drying time. Also you can relax about smears since they set almost immediately. I have huge reservations about the digital programs for both penciling and inking although I do paint exclusively in Photoshop. My reluctance is based on both knowing and experiencing computers crashing ,.Sure everyone states that you should save and save often but still if the drive burns that’s it the work is lost forever unlike the traditional method. If I crash it’s for one of two reasons, 1. Exhaustion and don’t wake me, and 2, if there’s blood trickling out of my ears then you won’t wake me. Also there’s the original art factor to deal with. You can’t sell a digital file as an original piece of art to the collectors market. , Pat
